Breaking: Governor Ododo's Father is Dead, Details Emerge

Kogi Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has lost his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo, to the cold hands of death. Alhaji Ododo reportedly died on Monday evening, August 18.

The older Ododo's death was announced in a statement by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the Kogi State commissioner for information and communication, who said the governor's father died at the age of 83.

The statement reads in part:

“The Kogi State Government regrets to announce the passing of the father of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Late Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo, who returned to his Creator a few hours ago at the age of 83.”

How Kogi governor's father will be buried

Fanwo further explained that the Janazah (funeral) will be conducted for the deceased in line with Islamic rites.

The government then pray that Allah (SWT) should forgive the deceased his shortcomings, his deeds should be accepted and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.

He also sympathised with the governor, his family and the entire Ododo clan. They pray for them to have the strength to withstand the great loss with fortitude.

Governor Ododo is the youngest governor in the current Nigeria, 43. He was declared the winner of the November 2023 governorship election in the north-central state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He defeated the Social Democratic Candidate (SD) Murtala Ajaka, and former Senator, Dino Melaye, who contested under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Who is Governor Ododo's godfather

Ododo is the political godson of Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of the state, who recently married a fourth wife, Hiqma, at a private ceremony over the weekend in Abuja.

Close friends and family members attended the private event. Hafiza Yahaya Bello, the third wife of the former governor, first announced the marriage on social media and publicly welcomed the fourth wife into the family.

The former governor's wife expressed gratitude and prayed for blessings and peace in their home. She wrote: “Our family just got a little bigger and more loving.”

Bello served as the governor of Kogi state between 2016 and 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The former governor was previously married to Amina Oyiza Bello, Rashida Yahaya Bello, and Hafiza Bello.

Nigerian governors' age

Legit.ng earlier reported that the 2027 race is already getting tense, with the youths calling for the young ones to take control of authority in the country.

President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who were criticised for their age in the 2023 election, have declared interest in contesting again in the 2027 election.

However, the youngest governor in Nigeria is currently 43, and the ages of others have been compiled and published.
