FCT, Abuja - The federal government has revealed that 1.9 million applicants applied for the 2025 paramilitary recruitment exercise.
Specifically, a total of 116,188 individuals from Kogi applied for positions in the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services.

FG begins nationwide recruitment
Recall that the Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), operating under the federal government, has announced the commencement of a new nationwide recruitment exercise.
The recruitment drive covered multiple entry-level and professional positions across Nigeria’s Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services. According to the official notice, eligible candidates were invited to apply for three distinct categories of roles.

The application portal remained open and accessible via http://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng. Prospective candidates were advised to complete their applications before the deadline of August 4th, 2025, in order to be considered for any of the roles on offer.
This figure was disclosed on Monday, August 11, by the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) at the conclusion of the application period.
Kaduna and Benue states close behind
Kaduna and Benue states followed closely with 114,551 and 110,583 applicants respectively.
Together, these three states accounted for a significant share of the overall applications received nationwide.
Wide disparity in applications across states
The data also revealed a sharp contrast in the number of applicants from various states.
While some states had large numbers of applicants, others recorded much lower figures.
Lagos state had 14,216 applicants, Bayelsa recorded the fewest with 11,669, while Rivers and Ebonyi also had relatively low turnout.

In total, the recruitment exercise attracted 1,911,377 applications across the country, reflecting the high level of interest in joining Nigeria’s paramilitary services, Vanguard reported.
Shortlisting and next steps for applicants
The CDCFIB announced that shortlisted candidates will be contacted soon with further instructions.
“Applicants are advised to keep a close watch on their emails and text messages for notifications and to regularly check the official recruitment portal for updates,” the statement read.
This recruitment exercise remains one of the largest ever conducted by the federal government for paramilitary services.
APC-led state begins recruitment into civil service
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the federal government of Nigeria released a new directive for some applicants in the ongoing Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) recruitment process, urging shortlisted candidates to complete a new form within 72 hours.
In an update on its official platform, the FCSC instructed certain shortlisted applicants to log in to their profiles and confirm their status.
