Aso Rock- Following violent attacks and unrest that has further fueled the crisis in some parts of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with security and intelligence chiefs at the State House in Abuja.

Photos of the meeting emerge through the official Facebook page of a presidential media aide, Buhari Sallau, on Thursday, October 21.

Although the agenda of the meeting has not been made public at the time of filing this report, yet, it may not be unconnected with the security situation in the country.

Meanwhile, the security heads were expected to brief the President at the meeting and it was also expected that the meeting would have a review of recent security developments across the country.

The meeting coincided on the day the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was arraigned at the Federal High Court, Abuja, a report by the Vanguard indicates.

Among those present at the meeting are the; Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN); Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Minister of Defense, Major General Bashir Magashi (Rtd); Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; and the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd).

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Nigerian Army had reportedly explained that the global convention for which Nigeria is signatory did not allow the killing of surrendered terrorists.

The Army spokesperson, Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, made this known in an interview.

He reiterated that troops deployed for “Operation Hadin Kai” accept surrendered Boko Haram/ ISWAP terrorists in conformity with the international laws and treaties of armed conflict.

Legit.ng noted that the explanation was offered amid the calls in some quarters on the military to kill the surrendered terrorists instead of reintegrating them into the society.

Earlier, the Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi, has said no political ambition is worth the life of any Nigerian.

The governor made the remark while giving a speech to mark his third year in office at the state assembly complex, in Ado-Ekiti.

While calling on politicians to shun politics of bitterness, Fayemi assured that he would not be distracted by the politics of who succeeds him in 2022.
