Pastor Jerry Eze, founder of Streams of Joy International, has sparked widespread conversation after publicly recounting the painful early days of his marriage, admitting the experience was so difficult he once considered walking away for good.
Speaking during what appeared to be a church session, the clergyman described his first week as a married man as an introduction to a kind of misery he had never anticipated.

"When I got married newly, marriage was hell. Very hell. It is something called the hell than hell," he said.

Pastor Jerry recalled that one of his earliest encounters with his wife's anger came while she was arranging tea cups and saucers in the kitchen.
He said he asked her a simple question he can no longer remember, and her response left him shaken. She swept every cup and plate off the counter in one swift motion, then turned and stared at him.
"I just moved away, went to the room, packed my things, and then I ran away from the house because the next thing I thought she was going to do was she was going to start beating me because I never saw that coming," he said.
He added that the pattern continued for a considerable period, leaving him unable to speak freely to his own wife for fear of triggering a reaction.
Pastor Jerry Gets Stranded on a London High Street
Perhaps the most striking episode Pastor Jerry shared was from a trip to London, where his wife was living at the time.
After he briefly stepped into a separate shop without informing her, a disagreement broke out.
When he responded to her complaint by asking, "Do you want me to be afraid of you?" she walked off and went home without telling him.
It was only after calling her friend that he discovered he had been left stranded on the high street, with no knowledge of the area. "She said, I'm at home.
Your husband is on the high street. He said, ' Let him find his way and come back,' Pastor Jerry recounted.
He returned to her house, repacked his belongings, changed his flight ticket and left London that same night.

A Prayer That Changed His Perspective
The turning point, he explained, came during a moment of prayer when he told God he was prepared to end the marriage entirely. He said God responded by telling him that the marriage was not a destination but an assignment, and that how well he handled it would determine his advancement in destiny.
That shift in perspective, he said, transformed his approach entirely. Rather than waiting to receive love or correct behaviour, he focused on giving it.
"Today, I stand to say, and I mean, my wife is one of the sweetest persons you would ever meet. She was not like this," he concluded.
