The actress took to Instagram on Sunday, August 23, 2026, to address the controversy in a visibly emotional video. Bakare explained that she had been away from her phone for an extended period, having attended a movie premiere, and was unaware of the widespread tagging until she returned.

"It's a dark Sunday for all of us. I just go back for a movie premiere. I haven't seen any tags but people said that a particular video of me that has been tagged up and down," she said.
