Following Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final qualification, attacking winger Christian Pulisic has equaled a staggering record set by Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, Mirror reports.

After his sublime performance against Porto in the quarter-final second leg, Pulisic equaled a record that the Argentine star set in 2011.

The 22-year-old mesmerized the Porto defence during the showdown which attracted 11 fouls against him on the night.

It remains the most any player has been fouled in Champions League match since Messi set the record after he was hacked down 11 times by Real Madrid ten years ago.

Matching the Argentina legend's record is not only a clear indication of Pulisic's dribbling ability, but also the confidence he is playing with.

Pulisic was hindered by muscle injuries earlier in the campaign but claims he is back in peak condition just in time for the crucial run-in.

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has disclosed that he would prefer to face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final than Premier League rivals Liverpool.

The manager stated that he rather play a team from another league because of the Champions League feeling.

The German tactician guided the Blues to the semi-final of the European competition for the first time since 2014 despite their 1-0 second leg loss to Portuguese side FC Porto.

Chelsea had done the job in the first-leg winning 2-0 as they proceed 2-1 on aggregates. Now the Blues will face the either of Real Madrid or Liverpool next.
