Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has disclosed that he would prefer to face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final than Premier League rivals Liverpool.

The manager stated that he would rather play a team from another league because of the Champions League feel.

The German tactician guided the Blues to the semi-final of the European competition for the first time since 2014 despite their 1-0 second-leg loss to Portuguese side FC Porto.

Chelsea had done the job in the first-leg winning 2-0 as they proceed 2-1 on aggregates. Now the Blues will face either Real Madrid or Liverpool next.

Los Blancos take a giant 3-1 first leg lead going into the showdown at Anfield on Wednesday night, April 14.

Tuchel said via Daily Mail:

"In general I like not to play against teams from your same league in the Champions League as it gives more of a feeling of a European competition but that is the only thing. The game is far from over but I will watch it for sure.

"Everything is possible. Liverpool are very strong at home so we take what we get. It is a good situation for us."

And ahead of the showdown, Real Madrid announced that team captain Sergio Ramos has tested positive for COVID-19.

The defender was sidelined with an injury he picked up during the last FIFA break and was not expected to return to the squad in the next few days.

He will now spend some more time away from the team as he recovers from Covid-19. Raphael Varane also tested positive a week ago and is still not able to return to the team.
