Lawmakers run for their lives as fight breaks out at PIB public hearing

In a sign of total disrespect to the Nigerian authority, some people have engaged in a physical fight at the House of Representatives during a public hearing at Room 028.

The public hearing was on the Petroleum Industry Bill and chaired Hon. Mohammed Monguno on Thursday, January 28.

According to Vanguard newspaper, the fighters are believed to be members of the oil host communities who had come to make presentations on the bill.

The news outlet also reported that the fight broke out exactly 12:10 pm.

In another report, following calls by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the sacking of former speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the lawmaker is yet to join its fold.

The APC denied claims by the PDP that Dogara has defected to the party.

Legit.ng gathered that the ex-speaker, who was elected to the House of Representatives at the last general election on the platform of the PDP, reportedly defected to the APC last year.

Legit.ng had also reported that one of the opposition parties in Nigeria, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) was hit by defection as a member of the House of Representatives, Herman Hembe, joined the ruling APC.

It was reported that Hembe announced his defection from the APGA to the APC on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, during a plenary session.

Legit.ng also reported that a former deputy speaker of the House of representatives, Babangida Nguroje, has lost seven members of his family in a road accident.

It was reported that the accident happened along Akwanga-Keffi road in Nasarawa state on the night of Saturday, January 9.
