Legit.ng brings you six reasons Nigerians are leaving the country.
1. Income
Nigerians are aware that the time and energy they invest in working in the country will earn them more income if they replicate that abroad. Being hard working in the diaspora means more money in the bank account, but the same cannot be said in the case of Nigeria.
2. Job opportunity
There are many job opportunities abroad than you will find in Nigeria. People who troop out of the country are aware of this. The rate of unemployment in Nigeria has skyrocketed and many Nigerian youths are tired of searching for jobs that are not available.
They know where these jobs are available and they fly out of the country as soon as they can to avail themselves of the opportunities in the diaspora.
Legit.ng previously reported how a Nigerian lady identified as Mfon Abia was offered a job she did not apply for in the United States.
She said she got a call from The Academy, Miami, Florida, offering her a job and asking her to send her CV if she was interested.
She wrote on her LinkedIn page:
"I am pleased to announce to this Honourable House that come Monday, August 3rd 2020, I will no longer be a jobless Nigerian youth and will resume at The Academy, Miami, Florida, USA."
3. Education
The quality of education in America and Europe is better than what we have in Nigeria, and this is one of the reasons Nigerians leave the shores of the country.
With certificates obtained in higher institutions abroad, they are aware that companies in Nigeria will be seeking to employ them.
4. Career advancement
Many people find it easier to advance in their career abroad than they will in Nigeria. Those in the creative industry are more appreciated in the diaspora than they are in their own country.
It is the goal of everyone to advance in whatever field they find themselves, and that is why people don't hesitate to leave Nigeria when they are sure that this goal can be easily achieved in the diaspora.

5. Healthcare
Many people travel out of the country because of the enviable healthcare system that is available abroad. People would rather raise a family in a country that prioritises its healthcare system.
6. Making their kids citizens of other countries
This is one of the reasons Nigerians leave the shores of the country. They want their kids to have dual citizenship and receive the opportunities every other child in the foreign country receives.
