The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that leaders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) are already looking beyond the current administration because they have lost hope in the Buhari regime which has three years left.

The spokesperson for the party, Kola Ologbondiyan made the claim in a statement posted on the PDP’s Facebook page on Saturday, November 28.

Ologbondiyan claimed the APC leaders had begun underground moves to disown the Buhari administration over its inefficiencies.

He alleged that desperation to hold on to power had forced the ruling party to consider a possible change of name as well as the plotting to destabilise the PDP.

The spokesperson said:

“The attitude and character of the APC have manifestly shown that it is mortally afraid to stand election in 2023, given that Nigerians have seen through their antics and are determined not to have anything to do with such a deceitful, beguiling, divisive and incompetent party in future elections.”

He said the ruling party has remained uncoordinated and rudderless for the five years it has been in power.

The PDP also urged the APC caretaker committee chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni, to stop engaging in needless politicking.

Meanwhile, following the defection of some of the bigwigs of the PDP, the APC has called on other political parties in Nigeria to form a formidable opposition to the ruling party.

Channels TV reported that the APC deputy national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, in a statement said the PDP has lost its position as the main opposition in Nigeria.
