Chief whip: Orji Uzor Kalu promises to work for the people

- Orji Uzor Kalu has reiterated his loyalty to the APC after he was appointed as the chief whip of the Senate

- The Abia lawmaker while appreciating the party, promised to carry out his legislative duty diligently

- Going further, Kalu said his voice will stand for unity, equity, justice and fairness

The lawmaker representing the people of Abia north senatorial district at the National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu, has appreciated the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) for appointing him as the chief whip of the Senate.

Kalu who disclosed this on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, July 3, pledged his loyalty to the party and promised to work for the success of his legislative duties.

"After extensive deliberations & consultations by our party the All Progressive's Congress (APC). I was officially appointed as announced the " Senate chief whip" of the 9th National Assembly.

"Let me appreciate the members & leadership of our great party for considering me worthy to serve in this leadership capacity as a principal officer. I assure the party of my commitment to work assiduously to ensure that my legislative duties are carried out effectively and efficiently," he said.

Going further, he vowed to contribute his own quota to the development of the country by ensuring that people oriented policies are passed for the benefit of Nigerians. He added that he would be a voice in the defence of equity, justice and fairness.

"I would also work painstakingly to ensure that the 'people oriented' policy programmes of both the legislative and executive are attained for the benefit of the good people of Nigeria & Abia-north in particular. I will also contribute my quota towards the development of my dear country Nigeria.

"My voice will always be heard in the defence of unity, equity, justice and fairness. This is just the beginning," he added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday, July 2, announced the names of the eight principal officers for both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the minority Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kalu was announced as the new Senate chief whip while Senator Abdullahi Aliyu Sabi from Niger state was announced as the deputy chief whip.
