FEC meeting cancelled again as Buhari embarks on campaign tour

President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election campaign in Ebonyi and Cross River states has led to the cancellation of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) scheduled to hold on Wednesday, January 30

Daily Trust reports that the cancellation of the Wednesday meeting made it the second time the FEC would be cancelled following campaigns by the president and vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, in parts of the country.

Usually, the vice president presides over the FEC meeting in the absence of the president, but recently, both Buhari and Osinbajo have been busy with campaigns in different parts of the country.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, January 30, arrived Abakaliki, the Ebomyi state capital, in continuation of his presidential campaign tour of the 36 states of the federation.

Buhari arrived Abakaliki around 9.30am amidst tumultuous welcome at the Nkwegu military cantonment where he was received by the cantonment commander, other security chiefs in Ebonyi and major chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Buhari, presidential candidate of the APC shortly on arrival paid a courtesy call on Chief Dave Umahi, governor of Ebonyi at the government House in Abakaliki.
