2 governorship aspirants withdraw from Osun APC primary election

Two governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have dropped their bid to contest for the party’s ticket in the coming governorship election in Osun state.

The affected aspirants include the secretary to the Osun state government (SSG), Moshood Adeoti, as well as the chairman of local government service commission, Peter Babalola, Channels TV reports.

Both candidates were reported to have announced their withdrawal shortly before the APC primary election started on Friday, July 20.

Moshood Adeoti said his decision to withdraw from the party’s primaries was because the process was already designed to favour an anointed aspirant.

He however, told his supporters that he is still going to contest and win the governorship election.

Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has shelved his decision to leave his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), following a closed-door meeting he had with the national chairman of the party, Comrades Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday, July 19, in Abuja.

Vanguard reports that while speaking with journalists at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, Ortom said the party leadership has assured him that no individual in Benue state can pus him out of the party.

Legit.ng gathered that the governor said that he is still a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
