The Ebonyi state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor David Umahi of victimising opposition in the state.

Daily Trust reports that the leadership of the party in Ebonyi made the accusation on Tuesday, April 10, in Abuja when they visited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The APC chairman in the state, Nwachukwu Eze, who led the delegation, accused Governor Umahi of deceiving President Muhammadu Buhari on his second term bid and also victimising opposition in the state.

“Governor Umahi pretends to support President Muhammadu Buhari by openly backing his re-election bid. The same governor secretly signed a document on stopping the President with other PDP members,” he said.

However, the spokesperson to the governor said from all available records, Governor Umahi has rescued the state from the fangs of poverty and underdevelopment and has never been found wanting in the discharge of his official duties.

Pastor Nwachukwu who is a factional chairman of APC in Ebonyi State is notorious for his lies and penchant in seeking cheap publicity but unfortunately, this one has hit the woodwork as it has failed to attract the sentiment he sought for,” he said.

Meanwhile, a youth movement under the aegis of Jagaban Movement, has thrown its weight behind the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election in 2019.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng by its national coordinator, Bashir Adegboyega, the group said the president's re-election bid tilted towards the path of a safer tomorrow and massive employment of human and non-human resources in Nigeria.

According to Adegboyega, the second term bid of the president has become necessary considering his unwavering commitment to anti-graft war and massive infrastructure programmes with the attendants employment generation.
