Nigeria recorded an emphatic 4-0 win in the 2026 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup qualifiers at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday evening, September 27.
The Falconet took the lead in the 13th minute through Precious Oscar after connecting to Janet Akekoromowei's pass.
Three minutes later, Fatima Adeshina converted a free-kick from the corner-kick area, beating Rwandan goalkeeper Iramuzi Belise for the second time in the encounter.

The provider of the first goal, Akekoromowei, made it three for the Falconet through a thunderous strike from a distance in the 60th minute. Substitute Alaba Olabiyi scored the fourth goal in the 90th minute after diverting Taiwo Afolabi's shot, per Daily Post.

The Falconet had earned a narrow 1-0 win in Kigali in the first leg, completing a 5-0 aggregate triumph to book their spot in the third round, where they will face either Senegal or Algeria.
Senegal currently hold a 2-0 advantage over Algeria from the first leg of their 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Governor Makinde rewards Falconet
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde rewarded the Nigeria U20 women's team with the sum of ₦22m for overpowering the Rwandan team.
In a viral post on X, Falconet captain Joy Igbokwe received the donation after the match. The funds were presented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, on behalf of the governor.
The Oyo State government also doled out $10,000 to their opponent for putting up a good fight against the highly motivated U20 girls.

Oyo State ready to host Super Eagles matches - Makinde
Seyi Makinde stated that Oyo State meets the criteria for hosting Super Eagles matches.
According to Punch, the Oyo State Governor said his administration will continue to invest heavily in infrastructure. He said:
“We are ready in Oyo State to host the Super Eagles. Let us assess the facilities at the Lekan Salami Stadium and see what needs to be improved."
