As noted by Goal, Bayern paid a record €16.5 million loan fee and have an option to buy, which will become an obligation if certain conditions are met.

There is confusion around the obligation after Bayern Munich board member Uli Hoeneß claimed that it was impossible for the move to become permanent.

Mikel reacts to Jackson's departure

Mikel Obi is not totally pleased that Jackson left Chelsea this summer after the arrivals of João Pedro and Liam Delap and believes he should have stayed to fight.

“It shows that they are listening, it shows that they know exactly what I'm talking about,” he said on the Obi One Podcast about Chelsea signing Liam Delap and João Pedro this summer.
"Everything I said was not to get rid of something; it was to bring in competition, competition is always very important, and we can see that in the way we're playing.”

The former Super Eagles captain claimed he would have stayed to fight and prove himself if he were in Jackson's shoes.

“It's unfortunate for me that Nicolas Jackson didn't stay to fight for his position because as a player, you want to fight, you want to be able to prove yourself,” he added.

“I don't wanna run away, I wanna prove myself that I'm better than these guys you're bringing in, but unfortunately, he left.
“Now he is in Bayern Munich, a new chapter for him, but he had another top striker to fight for places with in Harry Kane, so he has to go out there again and prove himself.”

Mikel remains confident in the team at Enzo Maresca and believes that the duo of Pedro and Delap fills him with confidence that Chelsea can win every game after they impressed in their early days

“I have a feeling that I didn't have last season, that going into games, we go into every game believing that we can beat everybody. I'm sure the fans also have that feeling,” he continued.
“That's the mentality of champions, which I was talking about; these guys have tasted the feeling of winning trophies.”
