Super Eagles winger Kelechi Iheanacho has officially parted ways with Sevilla after both parties agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

The 28-year-old joined Sevilla as a free agent in the summer of 2024 after running down his Leicester City contract, but failed to settle in at the La Liga club.

During the 2025 January transfer window, the forward moved to EFL Championship side Middlesbrough on loan under the tutelage of former Manchester United manager Michael Carrick, but also failed to make an impact scoring one goal and providing two assists in 15 games.

The former Manchester City lack of playing time in the 2024/25 season ensured the Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle failed to name him in the 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe last March.

Fan advised Iheneacho to retire

Mixed reactions have been expressed regarding the termination of Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho's contract with Seville FC.

The rise of Iheanacho

Super Eagles winger Kelechi Iheanacho can be described as one of the greatest players to have risen from the junior to the senior category of the national team.

Iheanacho broke into the limelight after winning the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup, winning the Golden Ball and Silver Shoe, per BBC.

His extraordinary performance earned him a big move to Manchester City, where he made his senior debut in 2015, per The Guardian. He later joined Leicester City in 2017, scoring over 60 goals and winning the FA Cup in 2021.

Iheanacho went on to win the FA Cup, FA Community Shield and EFL Championship with Leicester City between 2017 and 2024, scoring 35 goals in 173 matches.

Iheanacho's salary at Sevilla emerges after contract termination

Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was earning €60,192 per week at Sevilla.

This amount reflects a pay cut from his Leicester City earnings, where he reportedly earned around £80,000 per week.
