The Women's Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Morocco has opened doors of opportunities for Super Falcons players, as five of them have joined new clubs.

Nigeria went to Morocco on Mission X: a mission to capture their 10th WAFCON title, which was successfully delivered after beating the hosts in the final.

The Falcons won the title remarkably, coming from two goals down to beat the host 3-2 in the final, thanks to Esther Okoronkwo’s brilliance, scoring a goal and providing two assists.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu conferred national honour on the players and gave them a cash gift of $100,000, but beyond that some players have moved on to better things.

Super Falcons stars who joined new clubs after WAFCON

1. Asisat Oshoala

The former Barcelona and Liverpool forward was with National Women's Soccer League team Bay FC during the WAFCON, which she had limited appearances, with younger players preferred ahead of her.

According to The Athletic, the six-time African Footballer of the Year has moved to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Hilal Women on a two-year contract, where she will face international teammate Ashleigh Plumptre, who is at Al-Ittihad.

2. Rasheedat Ajibade

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade ran down her Atletico Feminino before joining her teammates for WAFCON, having been with the club for four years.

She surprisingly joined Paris Saint-Germain Women after the tournament, signing a two-year contract, as confirmed by the official statement, linking up with teammate Jennifer Echegini, who joined the club in 2024.

3. Deborah Abiodun

Abiodun’s case was not a new transfer, but her parent club Washington Spirits, recalling her from her loan at Dallas Trinity after a brilliant performance at AFCON. She made her NWSL debut on September 1 against Chicago Stars.

4. Rinsola Babajide

As confirmed by AS Roma, Babajide joined their women's team in the middle of WAFCON and linked up with her teammates after enjoying her holiday with her Moroccan boyfriend in Spain.

5. Chiamaka Nnadozie

Nnadozie has confirmed before WAFCON that she would be leaving Paris FC as a free agent after five successful years at the French capital club. She joined Women Super League side Brighton and Hove Albion before joining the Super Falcons for WAFCON.
