The ex-Chelsea coach had joined Fenerbahce in 2024 but failed to win any silverware during his short stay at the club after finishing as runners-up in the Super Lig, losing the title to arch-rivals Galatasaray.
According to the BBC, Mourinho was accused of playing uninspiring football, while several players who had excelled the previous season struggled under his management.

Speaking in the viral clip, the Portuguese manager disclosed he doesn’t mind coaching any of the lower teams in the Premier League, including the ones not competing in UEFA competitions.
“I think the best thing I have to do is when I leave Fenerbahce, I go to a club that doesn't play UEFA competitions,” Mourinho said in an old video as seen on Sky Sports.
“If any club in England from the bottom of the table needs a coach in two years, I'm ready to go."
Mourinho made the comments after he was sent off in a UEFA Europa League match against his former team, Manchester United, last season.
Mourinho’s history in England
Before heading to Turkey to join Fenerbahce, Mourinho was one of the revered managers the Premier League had witnessed.
He has previously coached for Chelsea twice, where he won three Premier League titles, as well as winning the Champions League with Inter Milan and Porto.
In 2017, Mourinho led Manchester United to their first Europa League title and most recent European title.
The Portuguese manager also had a stint with Tottenham, but failed to win a major silverware with the North London club and was sacked just before the Carabao Cup final.
Now, with reports linking him to Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, speculation is rife about where he could land next.
Of both teams, only the Red Devils are not competing in Europe this season, and Ruben Amorim’s position is under scrutiny after being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by fourth-tier club Grimsby.
