Junior Agogo: Former Black Stars talisman dies at the age of 40

Junior Agogo, former Black Stars striker, has been reported dead as the Ghanaian football fraternity has been plunged into another wake of mourning following his death.

The former Zamalek and Nothingham Forest goal poacher died at age 40 on Thursday morning, August 22, in London.

Agogo was hospitalized in 2015 after suffering stroke which later left him bedridden until reports confirmed he has given up the ghost in the earlier hours of Thursday.

In a report by UK Mirror, Agogo had revealed that he was yet to use his right hand to write after he was hit by a stroke for a period spanning four years.

In a trending video, the former football star confirmed he had difficulty moving and controlling his right hand, suggesting that things were not going on well with his health.

"It's (right hand) better but it ain't like before," Agogo said in a slurred speech.

The former Black Stars talisman would later spend two months before he eventually passed on after losing battle with the serious ailment.

Agogo reportedly suffered the illness just two years after drawing down the curtain on his football career, and his death has plunged the Ghana football into mourning.

He would be remembered for his eye-catching performances for the Black Stars during the 2008 Nations Cup on home soil.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) have announced the shocking and heartbreaking demise of former Super Falcons forward Ifeanyi Chiejine who died after a brief illness.

According to the statement from the Nigeria's Football governing body, the former Confluence Queens of Lokoja striker died on Wednesday, August 21.
