Tinubu's Presidency: Federal Lawmaker Drags 36 Governors
- President Bola Tinubu has been vindicated from Nigeria's economic woes with the increment in the federal allocations to states under his administration
- Yusuf Gagdi, a member of the House of Representatives, called on Nigerians to question the governors on how they manage the tripled allocations they are receiving from the federal government
- According to Gagdi, the governors are not complementing the president's efforts in reviving the country's economy despite their allocation being increased since the removal of the fuel subsidy
A member of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Gagdi, has called on Nigerians to hold the 36 governors in the country accountable concerning the state of the economy.
The federal lawmaker representing the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam federal constituency of Plateau, made the comment on Tuesday, September 23.

APC lawmaker says governor should be questioned
Gagdi, an All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker, while speaking on a Channels Television interview, alleged that the governors have failed to complement the reforms that President Bola Tinubu has started. He stressed that the federal government has tripled state allocation since the petrol subsidy was removed.
He described President Tinubu's declaration of "subsidy is gone" as a bold statement, adding that the president has put his words into practice and demonstrated them since he has been in office. The lawmaker explained that a state that was receiving N4 billion before the removal of the subsidy now collects N10, N12, and N14 billion.
Gagdi then questioned why Nigerians and state houses of assembly are not demanding transparency from the 36 governors of the country. Despite the removal of the subsidy and the increase in the allocations to states, opposition figures have alleged that President Tinubu is still paying fuel subsidy.
Atiku accuses Tinubu of paying fuel subsidies
Earlier this year, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar tackled President Tinubu over the allegation that his government was still paying subsidies on fuel and making contrary statements against it. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election expressed concerns about the lack of transparency and inconsistency between Tinubu's actions and his words.
Atiku noted that multiple reports have suggested that President Tinubu has continued to subsidise petrol contrary to his May 29, 2023, declaration that "subsidy is gone." According to Atiku, the administration of President Tinubu is performing an opaque governance that is eroding its credibility.
In a tweet on Monday, August 19, the former vice president criticised the ongoing fuel scarcity and rising energy costs, blaming the administration's failure. Atiku specifically condemned the delays in the re-operation of the Port Harcourt refinery, calling it a "national disgrace" and placing responsibility on President Tinubu.

Tinubu, Atiku battle for Buhari's supporters
Legit.ng earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu and the former vice president Atiku Abubakar are making moves to inherit the political dynasty of the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari.
This is due to the recent moves by the two political gladiators, which threw up a dramatic shift ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
Currently, the question is not about who will inherit Buhari's legacy but how deep the loyalty may shift and affect the 2027 presidential election.
