Big Loss For PDP as Former Governorship Candidate Resigns, Gives Reason

Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state - The 2029 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kebbi State has formally resigned from the party.

Senator Isa Galaudu stated that his resignation took effect immediately after he submitted his formal resignation letter to officials on Sunday, August 20, 2025.

As reported by The Punch, Galaudu addressed his letter to the PDP ward chairman in Augie North, Muhammadu Danbuga.

The former PDP governorship candidate said his decision was prompted by recent developments within the party.

Galaudu is the former chief of staff to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and ex-Senator representing Kebbi North (2011–2015).

He was a significant political figure in Kebbi State and a strong contender in the 2019 governorship election, Vanguard reports.

“I write to inform you of my resignation with immediate effect as a member of the PDP. It’s obvious that the PDP is being controlled by politicians of the national ruling party.”

However, he did not indicate the political party he intends to join after resigning from the PDP ahead of the 2027 election.

Former Abia deputy governor resigns from PDP

Recall that in a major twist of events, former deputy governor of Abia state, Ude Oko Chukwu, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The politician had cited personal reasons, thereby ending a long-standing political affiliation with the party.

However, speculations indicated that Chukwu made the move after endorsing Governor Alex Otti's second-term bid ahead of the 2027 election.

Atiku mentions his reasons for dumping PDP

In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, announced his resignation from the PDP ahead of the 2027 general election.

Atiku's resignation letter from the PDP was dated July 14 and was submitted to the party's Jada 1 Ward chairman in the Jada local government area of the state.

The former Vice-President's resignation came after his coalition movement had adopted the ADC as its political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
