APC Reacts as El-Rufai Drags ADC Vanguard Group: "Deception of Scale"

  • The APC has reacted to the outburst of former Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai, against the ADC Vanguard
  • El-Rufai has taken to social media to warn the group against fabricating statements and attributing them to him
  • This came days after the Bye-election, where El-Rufai, who was part of the opposition leaders who adopted the ADC, campaigned for the SDP

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has commented on the warning Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna state, issued to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Vanguard, claiming the group was fabricating lies against him.

Recall that El-Rufai recently dumped the ruling APC and defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). However, he joined former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other opposition leaders in the coalition movement to adopt the ADC as their political platform ahead of the 2027 election.

Why Tinubu may win the 2027 election

Political pundits have claimed that the coalition may not be able to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election because of a lack of unity within the movement. Surprisingly, ahead of the bye-election into the federal and state constituencies in Kaduna, El-Rufai dumped the ADC candidates and asked his supporters to vote for the SDP candidates.

After the election, the former governor took to social media to warn the political support group called ADC Vanguard against circulating remarks he never made. The warning followed a post shared by the group on X that linked him to a scathing criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s government.

El-Rufai took to his verified handle to dismiss the comments. He insisted that he operates his own channels where his opinions are clearly expressed and warned that any attempt to assign fabricated quotes to him would be rejected outright.

He added that political groups should not attempt to build relevance through dishonest tactics. The disputed post by ADC Vanguard, which has since been deleted, accused the Tinubu administration of corruption and favouritism.

The remarks were widely circulated before El-Rufai intervened publicly to disown them. According to him, the problem was not whether he agreed with the message but the fact that the words did not originate from him.

Reacting to the outburst, Felix Morka, the spokesperson of the APC, took to his social media page to mock the coalition, ADC and El-Rufai over the lack of coordination, expressing concern about how such a group can rule a country.

His tweet reads in part:

"Behold the crooked 'saviours' of Nigeria, drenched in Fabrications, Manipulations, Lies and Deception of a scale that even their own 'angels' can’t handle."

Soludo declares Labour Party, ADC 'dead'

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Anambra state governor, Chukwuma Soludo, had described the Labour Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as politically irrelevant in the state following the outcome of Saturday’s by-elections.

Speaking on Sunday, August 17, during a victory celebration in Nanka, the governor said the results showed that the parties backed by former governor Peter Obi and his allies could not stand against the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

According to him, the opposition coalition wanted to use the by-election as a test of strength in Anambra, but the electorate rejected them. He said APGA secured more than three-quarters of the total votes cast, which he described as an emphatic rejection of the rival parties.
