Governor Adeleke Mentions "Pharaohs" Against Him, PDP
- Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said his government and the PDP would overcome the threat posed by pharaohs against them
- The governor made the claim following his return from short vacation in the US, where he attended the wedding of his nephew, Davido
- Addressing PDP members at a reception organised in his honour, the governor said his administration has transformed the state from pity to prosperity
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun has expressed the confidence that his administration and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, would overcome the pharaoh in the southwest state and get back to its feat.
Adeleke had gone for vacation in the United States and also attended the wedding of his nephew, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, before returning to the state on Thursday, August 21.

Adeleke addresses PDP supporters in Osun
Speaking at a reception organised in his honour by the PDP members at the party secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital on the same Thursday, the governor bragged that he had transformed the state from pity to prosperity and confidence, adding that he would not allow anyone to take the state backward.
Governor Adeleke said since he had resumed office in 2022, there is more hope for the people and the state now have promising and prosperous future. He called on the people of Osun and PDP members not to return the state to back governance and urged them to sustain the tempo of the good governance he had started.
He also called on the people of the state and PDP members to take part in en mass in the ongoing continuous voter registration so that they can retain the PDP in government in the 2026 election.

Adeleke urged the people to continue to mobilise for the exercise, asking them to talk to their friends, families and neighbours. He called on his supporters to advocate the good work across sectors. He claimed that "Osun shall never go back to the past. We are light. We shall always overcome darkness”.

Governor Adeleke recently declared that he will support the second-term ambition of Tinubu but will not be leaving the PDP for the APC. The endorsement of Tinubu by Adeleke came after his series of meetings with the president and the report that he was making an alliance with Tinubu to secure his second term in the 2026 governorship election in the state.
The PDP governor defeated incumbent Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2022 governorship election in Osun, paving way to the change of leadership. Interestingly, Oyetola has stepped down in the 2026 race, following Adeleke's meeting with Tinubu.

Obi speaks on talks with the PDP
Legit.ng earlier reported that Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, confirmed that there was a discussion between him and the PDP.
Obi, who served as Anambra governor, added that he was open to discussion with individuals and political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tanko Yunusa, the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, disclosed the development in Abuja on Thursday, July 31.
