INEC recorded an impressive 69,376 registrants within just seven hours of launching the online pre-registration phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise on Monday, August 18, 2025.
As reported by The Nigerian Tribune, this significant turnout coincided with a viral social media post by Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, which appears to have galvanised public interest in the electoral process.
The online registration portal, which went live at 8:30 am on the same day, is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at the official INEC website, providing a convenient platform for eligible Nigerians to participate in the democratic process.

In-person CVR to commence on August nationwide
Meanwhile, INEC announced that in-person registration will begin on August 25, 2025 at all 37 state offices and 774 Local Government Area (LGA) Offices across Nigeria. These centres will facilitate biometric verification, PVC collection, and other voter services.
The commission emphasised that the registration centres were strategically located to ensure accessibility for all Nigerians, regardless of geographic location. Citizens were encouraged to visit the office nearest to them for prompt service.

Zamfara bye-election declared inconclusive
Legit.ng earlier reported that INEC declared the Kaura Namoda South State Constituency bye-election in Zamfara state inconclusive, citing discrepancies between the margin of lead and the number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected in cancelled polling units.
Lawal Sa’adu, the INEC returning officer for the election and a lecturer at the Federal University Gusau, announced the decision following the cancellation of results from five polling units located in Sakajiki and Kambarawa wards.
