“INEC Card Reader Rejected Me”: Jonathan Alleges Election Malpractice in 2015

Former President Goodluck Jonathan alleged that the card reader, which was introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), allegedly rejected him as a sitting president and prevented him from voting during the 2015 elections.

I could have stopped the 2015 election - Jonathan

In an interview that has gone viral, Jonathan maintained that INEC's card reader also rejected many voters in the Southern region of the country, including his wife, the then-First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan and his mother, from performing their civic responsibility.

However, Jonathan added that instructions allowed everyone to vote without accreditation in the north.

The former president said:

“In 2015, the INEC card reader rejected many voters in the South, including me and my wife, causing frustration. Meanwhile in the North, instructions allowed everyone to vote without accreditation. I could have stopped the election.”

“INEC helping APC to hijack election,” Amaechi alleges

Meanwhile, In a similar development, Legit.ng reported that Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transportation under the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, has accused INEC of collaborating with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate upcoming elections.

Amaechi made this assertion after he announced his resignation from the APC, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and direction.

Speaking on Wednesday, July 2, in Abuja during the unveiling of the interim executive committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the two-term governor of Rivers state, said:

2027: Cleric predicts Jonathan's return to presidency

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the general overseer and founder of Mount Zion Divine Gospel Ministry Inc., Prophet Bomadi Serimoedumu, predicted a possible return of Jonathan to Aso Rock in 2027.

He revealed that he saw Jonathan emerging victorious if he decides to run in the next presidential election.

“I see President Goodluck Jonathan in Aso Rock leading this country again. If he chooses to run in 2027, he will return as President. There will be prosperity, and the people will rejoice,” he proclaimed.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that PDP chieftain, Umar Sani, said he preferred Jonathan as his party’s presidential candidate rather than Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

He stated that the North will prefer Jonathan to Obi, and Jonathan’s return to power for another four years will complete the South’s eight years.
