Obi knocks Tinubu over travels

Apart from Japan and Brazil, the president will also be in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The presidency said in Japan, President Tinubu will attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) from Wednesday, August 20, to Friday, August 22.

The Nigerian leader will also be in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, on a two-day state visit from Sunday, August 24, to Monday, August 25.

This is reportedly based on an invitation by the Brazilian President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Reacting to the president's latest foreign trips, Obi condemned Tinubu for travelling out at a time the nation is 'bleeding'. According to the opposition leader, Tinubu should not be heading to Brazil again because he recently visited the country.

He said:

"Amid the deplorable state of our nation in all ramifications, we have a virtually indifferent president who has continued to display insensitivity to our situation.

Omokri tackles Obi over Tinubu criticism

Meanwhile, President Tinubu's supporter, Reno Omokri, lambasted Obi for criticising his favourite politician.

Omokri's statement on his verified X handle partly reads:

"Criticising President Tinubu's foreign travels confirms that Peter Obi is a petty trader who should open a stall at Onitsha market and do what he does best."

He added:

"Obi is just desperate to be president of Nigeria and will say anything as he grasps at straws in order to discredit the president and heat the polity."
