IPAC accused the state authorities of undermining democracy by involving “fake state chairmen” to legitimise the planned polls.
“Gathering political hirelings who claim to be chairmen of their political parties in Rivers State to endorse the conduct of the purported election smacks of desperation. Fake state chairmen cannot give legitimacy to gross illegality, unconstitutionality and abuse of office,” Dantalle stated.
Call for public resistance
The council has urged Nigerians to reject what it calls an assault on constitutional governance, Daily Trust reported.
“We urge citizens, patriots, men and women of goodwill to join us in condemning this obvious hijack of the political system by anti-democratic forces,” Dantalle said.
