Video Shows 11-Year-Old Head Girl Crying Painfully in Oyo as Mum and Dad Fail to Attend Her Graduation

• A touching video seen online by Legit.ng has shown an 11-year-old girl weeping profusely because her parents failed to show up for her graduation
• Not only that, the girl identified as Bashiru Wasilat was said to have been pained by the fact that she may not continue her education because her parents lacked the means
• Wasilat who is the outgoing Head Girl of God's Light Group of Schools, Oyo town, was seen shedding tears as she gave her speech

A video has shown a head girl crying profusely while giving her farewell speech on her graduation day in Oyo state.

The little girl identified as Bashiru Wasilat was said to be in tears because her parents were nowhere to be found on her graduation day.

Another reason she was in tears, according to a tweet seen by Legit.ng, was because she may not continue her education beyond primary school because her parents lacked the means to sponsor her.

Wasilat graduated from God's Light Group of Schools, Oyo town, Oyo state and many other kids were seen in the video shared online by @Oluwakayodey_.

He wrote on Twitter:

"Wasilat was weeping when she was giving her farewell speech. None of her parents showed up at the party due to lack of money. Her dad is jobless and her mom is a 'struggling' trader. It was the school that funded some of her things, including the graduation gown."

Legit.ng contacted @Oluwakayodey_ and he confirmed that he was the MC at the graduation where the girl cried. He called on public-spirited individuals to help the girl continue her education.

He also sent photos of Wasilat's 3rd term academic report to Legit.ng, which shows that she has "Excellent" remarks in all subjects. She obtained 80 marks and above in all the 12 subjects seen on the report sheet. The report card also described Wasilat as an obedient child.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng also reported that a boy who could not go to school due to a lack of funds was given a scholarship by Nigerian singer, Davido.

The boy named Morro Suleyman obtained straight As in his WAEC examination.

The scholarship covers all his fees and needs at Adeleke University, Ede, Osun state.
