France Releases New Guidelines For Students Seeking Jobs Abroad

France has published the requirements that international students must satisfy before they can undertake a professional work placement in the country, with the details outlined on the government's official visa portal.
According to the France-Visas website, a student's placement must form part of a structured training programme in their home country, whether that is a school curriculum, a university degree, or a recognised qualification.

Alternatively, the placement can fall under a European Union cooperation programme or an intergovernmental scheme covering education, training, youth, or culture.
Short-Stay vs Long-Stay Visa
The type of visa issued depends entirely on how long the placement will last. Students whose placement runs for 90 days or fewer will receive a short-stay visa.
Those whose placements run longer than 90 days will be issued a long-stay visa, which carries the same weight as a residence permit.
This longer visa must be validated in France after the student arrives in the country.
All applicants are required to submit a training agreement signed by three parties: the student, their training institution, and the host company in France.
For placements lasting more than 90 days, this agreement must first receive approval from French authorities, a process that must be initiated by either the host company or the training establishment. Canadian nationals, however, are exempt from having their agreement signed at a Préfecture.
Financial Requirements for Student Interns
On the financial side, students must demonstrate they have access to the equivalent of the basic monthly maintenance allowance paid to French government scholarship holders, set at 615 euros per month.
For placements that run beyond two months, any allowance paid directly by the host company will be factored into the assessment of the student's financial situation.
Students participating under an EU cooperation programme or an intergovernmental scheme are not required to prove their financial resources at all.
The France-Visas portal allows prospective applicants to assess their specific situation through an online tool before beginning the formal application process to travel.
Documents to apply for UK student visa
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that UK Visas and Immigration urged students who just received exam results to begin their student visa application immediately.
Applicants need three key items before they can start the online process, including a CAS reference number from their institution.
