Kidney warrior shares symptoms he noticed
The man, who used the TikTok handle @Dan, explained that he had been diagnosed with stage five kidney failure when he was 26 years old.
He said he decided to share his story after people had repeatedly asked how the illness had developed, and he wanted others to be aware of the symptoms he had lived with for months without realising their meaning.

In the video, he recalled that persistent nausea had been one of the earliest problems.
For a prolonged period, he found himself vomiting regularly, often several times in the morning after waking.
He initially thought the issue lay with his stomach or liver, particularly because alcohol had begun to make him feel ill almost immediately.
It was only after a visit to an urgent care centre that he had been given a different explanation.
He also described severe headaches that had been accompanied by overwhelming tiredness.
After attending classes during the day, he was frequently driven to a nearby car park and slept in his vehicle for hours before feeling able to continue.

He said this pattern had occurred almost daily for about a month, and even outside of those occasions he needed long naps at home several times each week.
Swelling in his feet and ankles had been another sign he had noticed shortly before seeking further medical attention.
He found that his toes and ankles would become noticeably swollen at night, to the point where movement was difficult.
At first, he attributed the swelling to a pair of shoes he thought were too small, but he later understood that it had been connected to his underlying condition.
The final symptom he mentioned was extremely high blood pressure.
He recounted going to urgent care after repeated vomiting and being told that his readings were dangerously elevated.
Medical staff had advised him to go to the emergency department immediately, where tests had confirmed that his kidneys had failed.
Despite the gravity of the situation, he closed the video with a note of optimism.
He said he was managing and was determined to recover, adding that he had faith he would overcome the illness.

"I had so many symptoms for years, and never even thought anything of it, I didn’t even realise I had high BP, or the fact I’d be sick so often took no notice, I had a transplant 6 months ago, was on dialysis 3.5 years."
@Featha P added:
"I have PKD which has caused my liver to also form massive cysts. Does anyone in your family have kidney disease? I ask because The only reason I stayed on top of my health is because my mom had PKD, her mom had it, my sister had it and my niece has it so I do blood work 4x a year when I see my nephrologist. Hopefully you’re getting the best of care. Stay strong and when you get your new kidney, remember to live life to the fullest!"
