Catholic Congregation Dismisses Bold Reverend Sister Weeks after her Controversial Facebook Post

The Congregation of Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters (MOPHAS) in Auchi, Edo State has dismissed its member, Reverend Sister Kinse Shako Annastasia, weeks after her controversial Facebook post.

Annastasia disclosed this on Facebook, stating that she received the dismissal letter on September 24, adding that it was dated July 21.

Why was reverend sister dismissed?

Annastasia noted that she was given a token of N100k, and that she returned to find her belongings already packed outside the room she stayed in and her religious habits taken away.

She did not disclose the reason for her dismissal, but appreciated everyone who stood by her in prayer and encouraged her through the difficult time.

Annastasia further stated that she is Catholic and loves her church. She wrote:

"...Who no get person, get God.
"I wish to let the public know that on this day, 24th day of September 2025, I received a letter of dismissal from the Congregation of Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters, dated 21 July 2025. A token of hundred thousand Naira(#100,000) was given to me.
"When I got to the Convent, I Met that my belongings were already packed outside the room I stayed in, and the religious habits were taken away. I pulled the one I had on and submitted it as well. Therefore, I am currently not in possession of any property of the Congregation.

"From my heart, I sincerely thank everyone who has stood by me in prayer and encouragement through this time. Your love and support mean more than words can express..." her statement partly read.

The reverend sister's dismissal may be connected to her Facebook post on August 24, where she challenged the Catholic church to do more to protect the reverend sisters in the church, stating that they are neither ornaments nor commodities for priests to use at will.

Her post went viral at the time and sparked debate across the Catholic community.

Reverend sister seeks support for expelled student

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a reverend sister had raised an alarm over the condition of the expelled UNIZIK student named Precious.

The reverend sister, who is a counsellor, also appealed to Precious' family to help their ward so her "condition" doesn't worsen.
