On one morning at around 2am, she wondered why she was waiting for someone to go with, yet "life is too short," so she booked a solo trip to Italy.

Kacie had crossed paths with 26-year-old Dario Nencetti, a night shift chef in one of the hotels in Florence.

“We bonded from the beginning. It was really natural, really easy conversation,” Dario started.

Kacie says that she was attracted to the stranger because he made her laugh a lot, which made him interesting company.

Just met Mr Right

The new friends spoke late into the early hours of the morning, then spent as much time as possible together.

“He would meet me after his work – every night he got off at 11. And we would go out and we would just talk,” Kacie adds.

The following two days were a whirlwind as they sat by Florence’s Ponte Vecchio bridge and often had conversations until 3 or 4am.

A few days later, it was time for Kacie to go back to New York, a separation that made her shed tears.

“I just met my future husband in Florence. That’s the guy I’m gonna marry. I’m never gonna see him again,” she messaged her friend.

Dario wasn’t replaceable

Even as Kacie went back home, she knew deep down that what she had with Dario was special.

“We never stopped talking. We FaceTimed every single day,” she recalled, adding that Dario soon planned a trip to New York.

The couple revealed that there was never a specific moment when they decided to embark on a relationship, but that it just happened without saying.

However, the elephant in the room was that they lived in different places and hated the heartbreaking airport goodbyes.

Kacie left her life in New York

It was at that point that Kacie decided to leave her life and dancing career to join her lover in Italy, despite now knowing what the future held.

“That was a pretty big wake-up call. I had got to a point where I needed to take a little step back from performing,” she continued.
