Group Backs Aiyedatiwa, Dismisses Ondo Redemption Front as Political Tool

A pro-government group called the National Rebirth Agenda has rejected recent attacks on Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, describing the Ondo Redemption Front (ORF) as a pressure group set up purely to destabilise his administration and create unnecessary political tension in the state.
The group's national president, Dr Bala Al-Majeed, made the position known in a statement on Sunday, saying the ORF's criticism was designed to distract the governor rather than reflect any genuine concern about governance or development in Ondo State.

Aiyedatiwa's Record Defended
The National Rebirth Agenda pointed to a range of projects it said the administration had delivered or was actively pursuing.
On infrastructure, the group said roughly 190 kilometres of roads had been completed or were under development, including the Akure-Idanre road and several other strategic corridors across the state.
In education, the group noted that the administration had recruited 2,100 teachers, paid WAEC examination fees for more than 23,000 students, awarded scholarships to thousands of tertiary-level students, and renovated 134 primary schools and 60 secondary schools.
On healthcare, the group said over 100 primary healthcare centres had been upgraded and that new hospital facilities had been approved for communities including Ikare-Akoko, Ore, Okitipupa and Igbokoda.
"An administration that is simultaneously expanding healthcare infrastructure, investing in schools, improving roads and addressing water supply cannot honestly be presented as doing nothing. Constructive criticism is welcome, but deliberately ignoring these achievements to create the impression of failure is dishonest and politically motivated," the group said.
The group also pointed to the rehabilitation of the Owena Dam Water Supply Project as part of the administration's efforts to resolve persistent water access problems across several local government areas.
On economic development, the National Rebirth Agenda highlighted the signing of agreements for a deep-sea port and a proposed $4 billion petrochemical and fertiliser plant as evidence that the governor was working to attract meaningful private investment to the state.
Group Tells Critics to Back Tinubu in 2027
Beyond defending the governor's record, the group turned its attention to those it described as sponsors of the "anti-Aiyedatiwa campaign," urging them to put their resources behind President Bola Tinubu's re-election effort ahead of the 2027 general elections rather than funding what it called needless political campaigns.
"Those financing these needless campaigns should ask themselves what Ondo State gains from permanent political warfare. If their concern is truly development, they should support the governor's efforts and channel their energy and resources towards strengthening the Tinubu administration and securing the continuity of the reforms that are benefiting the states," it said.
The National Rebirth Agenda urged Aiyedatiwa to stay focused on his OUR EASE agenda, deepen ties with the federal government, and continue drawing projects and investment to Ondo State, saying his relationship with Tinubu represented an opportunity for the state to secure more federal interventions.
Aiyedatiwa reacts as court bars him from 2028 governorship race
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state has reacted to the judgment of the Federal High Court in Akure, the state capital, on Thursday, March 12, barring him from contesting for a second term in office.
The governor described the decision of the court as an unnecessary distraction, stating that he had never expressed interest in seeking re-election in the state.
