Wike Slams N5m Fines on Ganduje, Oyinlola, Shehu Sani, Others for Illegal Land Conversion

FCT, Abuja – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has slammed N5 million fines on a former All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and others for converting their properties to other uses without approval.
Wike said illegal land conversion violates the conditions under which the right of occupancy of such properties was granted.

The sanctions affected the living, deceased individuals, public, and private institutions.
Wike ordered the affected allottees to pay the penalty violation fee within 30 days by September 10, 2025.
As reported by Arise News, this was disclosed in an advertisement placed in some national newspapers.
The order was in respect of the approved review of the Land Use/ Purpose Clause for properties on 15 streets in the upscale parts of Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse 2, Garki 1, and Garki 2 of the FCT.
The FCT administration alleged that Ganduje, without approval, redesigned an approved residence at Adetokunbo Ademola in Wuse 2 into a banking hall.
Wike also sanctioned Senator Shehu Sani for turning an approved residence at Aminu Kano Crescent into a showroom.
According to the FCTA, Former Osun state governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, illegally converted land approved for residential purposes at Yakubu Gowon Crescent, Asokoro, to Zhouyi Hotel.
The late General Tunde Idiagbon was also sanctioned for converting his property at Gana Street, Maitama, to Serendib Hotel and Suites without approval.
Others include two former Chief Justices of Nigeria, Justice Atanda Fatai-Williams and Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar.
Former Director General of the Governors Forum, Okauru Okauru, former military officer, Lt. Gen. Rufus Kupolati, and former FCT minister Abba Gana.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) residential property was converted to NNPC Medical Services, and the Nigeria Police for converting a public place for the use of POWA.
Wike’s aide blows hot over Tambuwal’s comment
Recall that Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, reacted to former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal's comment.
Olayinka said the FCT minister will respond to Tambuwal's comment accordingly.
He urged Nigerians to keep their fingers crossed, as Wike will definitely tell Nigerians what a betrayal Tambuwal is.
Wike will deliver FCT for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a public affairs analyst, Donald Okwuosa, listed ways the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, can secure victory of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Okwuosa said Wike has many advantages he can exploit to deliver the FCT for Tinubu's re-election bid in 202.
