Oyo Govt Announces Week-Long Activities for Ladoja’s Coronation as Olubadan
- Activities heralding the installation of former Governor of Oyo State, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, as the Olubadan of Ibadanland have kicked off
- The coronation committee under the Chairmanship of Chief Bayo Oyero held its inaugural meeting today, Monday, September 1, 2025
- All is now set for the coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan coming later this month
Official activities to install the former governor of Oyo state, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have started in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, as the enstoolment ceremony committee members have been named.
Former chairman of the central council of Ibadan indigenes, Chief Bayo Oyero is chairing the committee for the coronation scheduled to hold on September 26, 2025.

The inaugural meeting, which was attended by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon Demola Ojo, decided to make the coronation a week-long programme of activities.
Information Commissioner presents the activities
Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade said that the programme will commence on Monday, September 22, with an Interdenominational service at the Olubadan Palace Oke Aremo to be organised by the Central Council for Ibadan Indigenes, CCII.
This will be followed by Cultural Day on Tuesday, promoted by the CCII and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
According to Prince Oyelade, there will be a Coronation Lecture to be delivered by an international historian, Prof Toyin Falola.

Thursday will witness Mega Praise worship at the Civic Centre, Idi-Ape, while on Friday, September 26, 2025, the coronation of the new Olubadan will take place at the historical Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
Oba Rashidi Ladoja succeeded Oba Ige Olakulehin who joined his ancestors in early July, 2025 at the age of 90 years.
Oba Olakulehin was the 43rd Olubadan to rule the ancient city.
Oba Rashidi Ladoja’s nomination was approved by the Governor of Oyo state, Senator Engineer Seyi Makinde.
Royal Drummers March to Ladoja’s Residence
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that royal drummers have relocated to Oba Ladoja’s house, heralding his ascension to the throne.
Yoruba’s respect for the tradition has kept the Olubadan’s palace away from confirming the death of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Ige Olakulehin, who reportedly joined his ancestors early morning of Monday, July 7, 2025.
As expected, drummers and shekere shakers have already stormed the Bodija residence of the next Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
Oba Ladoja is a former Governor of Oyo State and holds the highest rank in the civil line. Meanwhile, as required by tradition, Aroko (symbolic message) has been sent to the family house of Oba Rashidi Lado at Isle-Osi in Ibadan, confirming him as the next to ascend the Olubadan throne.
