6 die in auto crash after Sanku's death
Two males, three female passengers, and a child died in the tragic accident at Ibeju Bus-Stop while four others escaped unhurt.
As reported by Leadership, eyewitnesses said the injured passengers were conveyed to Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Epe, and Hammond Hospital.
The eyewitnesses added that the deceased bodies were deposited in the mortuary of the same hospital, pending when their families would identify them.
The victims were attended to by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) rescue team from Corridor 13 and Zebra 46, Ibeju-Lekki Unit Command, with support from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC).
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said the accident involved a blue Volvo FL6 truck carrying wooden planks and a white commercial bus (AKD 336 YD).
According to Vanguard, Bakare-Oki said the nine injured survivors include three males and six females.
“The deceased comprised two adult males, three adult females, and one minor.”
The Lagos Sector Commander of the FRSC, Commander Kehinde Hamzat, said preliminary investigations revealed that the fatal accident was caused by speeding, route violation, and dangerous driving.
Hamzat warned that speeding and reckless driving remain the leading causes of avoidable crashes on Nigerian highways.
According to him, crashes during the ember months are not linked to witchcraft or supernatural forces, but to human recklessness, poor judgment, and failure to adopt defensive driving habits.
