Oyedepo warns against hijab use in mission schools
Speaking during a church service in an old video, Bishop Oyedepo described the demand as an act of overstepping boundaries, likening it to “a tenant decreeing for the landlord.”
The cleric emphasised that mission schools should maintain their original standards and advised those pushing for the hijab to establish their own schools.

Reacting, via a trending post shared on his X page on August 13, Master Maliq backed Oyedepo and wondered why Muslim parents would want to impose dress codes on a university that is funded by a church.
Master Maliq, an author of an Islamic book, urged Muslim faithful that rather than "fight for hijab rights in Christian schools, demand that Muslim leaders and wealthy individuals build universities that can stand on the same level or even higher."

The Islamic author who backed Oyedepo's stance, added that "no Muslim university in Nigeria can compete with Covenant University," due to the cleric's years of deliberate, heavy investment in education.
Master Maliq tweeted:
"Pastor Oyedepo is right. If you want to wear a hijab, attend a Muslim-owned school. You can’t impose Islamic dress codes on a university that is owned, run, and funded by a church.

"Leave the church to run their schools as they wish, and put the same energy into building your own to the standard you want."
