ADC members livid about endorsement

Meanwhile, his endorsement has stirred mixed reactions, particularly among supporters of the Advanced Democratic Congress (ADC), where Sheikh Khalil was once a governorship aspirant.

Malam Yusuf Bello, an ADC youth leader in Kano, expressed disappointment.

“Sheikh Khalil was once one of us, advocating for change through our party. For him to now endorse President Tinubu, who represents a different political ideology, is surprising.”
Many of us expected him to remain critical of the ruling party’s policies, especially given the current hardships,” he said.

Another ADC member, Alhaji Sani Mohammed, expressed stronger disapproval.

“This is complete betrayal of our party's ideals. How can someone who wanted to lead us under ADC now praise policies that are causing hardship for ordinary Nigerians? This shows his political inconsistency.”

However, not all ADC supporters share this sentiment, Hajiya Aisha Musa, ADC member, defended Sheikh Khalil.

“As a cleric, he has the right to voice his opinion. If he believes Tinubu is doing well, we should respect that. Politics shouldn’t divide us on religious or moral grounds,” she explained.

On the other hand, Sheikh Khalil also confirmed that his political ambitions remain undiminished.

“Nothing has changed. By Allah's grace, I will contest again in 2027 because this is about Kano's development," he declared.

He also noted that he is contesting for kano and its people and that he will never relent until he succeeds.
