Osun state - Olowu of Kuta, HRM Oba Dr Hammed Oyelude Makama, CON, Tegbosun III, has pledged to support the Nigerian armed forces in its bid to defeat the insurgency.

Oba Makama urged the military to continue to be patriotic and make the country proud.

He added that the efforts of "our armed forces to defend the territorial integrity of Nigeria will not be in vain".

The monarch stated this while speaking with newsmen in Kuta on Friday, when the NDA Regular Course 29 paid him a courtesy visit.

The traditional ruler is an honourary member of NDA Regular Course 29 and was flanked by the President of NDA Regular Course 29, Commodore Bolaji Seidu, rtd, during the visit.

The group also presented an award to Olowu Kuta for his support for the military, both serving and retired.

Oba Makama said the armed forces is the unifying factor in the country, pledging the unalloyed support of the group to the Nigerian armed forces.

Olowu said the improved budget for the military has paid off because the defence budget has increased.

He also commended the military for harmonious working relationships with other security agencies in terms of intelligence and support.

Commondore Seidu Rtd explained that the annual get-together by the NDA Regular Course 29 is called 'Sit Out' in military tradition, which is known as an annual general meeting (AGM).

According to him, the 2024 AGM was held in Maiduguri, while the 2025 AGM is ongoing at Continental Hotels, Osogbo.

The chairman of the local organising committee, Brig-Gen Oluwabunmi Oyebade, rtd, thanked Olowu Kuta for the warm reception.

Oyebade said the ancient town was lucky to have Oba Makama as their king because of the development his ascendancy to the throne of his forebears has brought to Kuta town.

The retired army general said it was Olowu who facilitated the bridge linking Kuta with Ede, which has been neglected for more than 100 years.

Oyebade said the role of the army is not to rule but to support the civilian administration.

Olowu tells Alaafin, Ooni, to emulate 2 Northern monarchs

Recall that Oba Makama sent an important message to Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, and Ooni of Ife, HIM Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Oba Oyelude urged the Alaafin and Ooni to embrace each other for the development of Yorubaland.

The traditional ruler advised the two Yoruba first-class monarchs to emulate the Sultan of Sokoto and, Shehu of Bornu's cordial relationship.

Olowu speaks after Induction Into NBR Hall of Fame.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Oba Makama described his induction into the Nigerian Books of Record Hall of Fame as a great responsibility to promote Nigeria’s image.

Oba Makama pledged support to NBR as a brand ambassador, emphasising the role of traditional rulers in nation-building and highlighting his national honour, CON.

NBR Director-General Prof David David praised Oba Makama’s contributions, noting he is the first in Osun State to receive this recognition, alongside awards from youth and cultural organisations.
