At the burial ceremony held on Monday, August 24, 2026, in Ilaro, Ogun state, Dele Odule trembled and wept openly while addressing the gathering.

Dele Odule, a former president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), has shared decades of friendship and professional history with Ogogo, making the moment all the more raw.

A final goodbye to Ogogo in Ilaro
Ogogo passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, after a prolonged battle with stage-four cancer.
His daughters had publicly appealed for medical assistance in his final days as his condition deteriorated.
True to Islamic tradition, he was laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro on August 24, where a lying-in-state ceremony preceded the burial.
The industry turnout was significant. Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko, Fathia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Madam Saje, and Bolaji Amusan, also known as Mr Latin, were among the veterans who came to pay their respects, many of them visibly affected by the loss.
Ogogo was born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro and first discovered acting in the early 1980s while working as an automobile mechanic.
He later walked away from a job at a water corporation to commit fully to the craft, building a career of more than four decades in Yoruba-language cinema.
Dele Odule, himself a celebrated figure known for productions such as Ti Oluwa Ni Ile, grew alongside Ogogo in the same industry and among the same circle of peers.
