A video of the emotional moment began circulating on social media on Sunday, August 23, 2026, showing the Fuji star visibly shaken during a live performance as news of Ogogo's death reached him.

Malaika first reflected on the actor's character and the kind of man he was on screen, before the tribute took a deeply personal turn.
In the latter part of his tribute, Malaika spoke about the unpredictability of death, noting that no one knows when their time on earth will come to an end.

Who was Taiwo Hassan Ogogo?
Taiwo Babatunde Hassan was born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
He began his acting journey in 1981 while still working as a mechanic, gradually becoming one of the most recognised faces in Yoruba-language cinema as an actor, screenwriter, producer, and director. His career spanned more than four decades.
Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after a battle with stage 4 cancer.
His family confirmed the news the same day. Burial arrangements were announced for Monday, August 24, 2026, in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State.

Yayi mourns Ogogo's death
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun state and Senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, expressed sadness over the death of Ogogo.
In a condolence message to the family of the late actor, signed by the senator’s media adviser, Kayode Odunaro, Adeola described Hassan’s death as “a monumental loss to the creative and entertainment industry.”
