Nigerian singer Rybeena has revealed that he and his wife, content creator and actress Kidbaby, have decided against having a child in Nigeria.
The singer shared the couple’s perspective during an appearance on the Wahala Podcast, where he spoke candidly about parenthood, the country’s economic situation and the environment children would have to grow up in.

‘Having a child here is messed up’
According to Rybeena, his personal experiences have shaped his concerns about raising children in Nigeria.
He argued that the country remains behind many other nations despite being home to some of Africa’s wealthiest individuals.
“Because of my experience and the way the country is, we are far behind among other countries even though we have most richest people in Africa,” he said.

He also expressed concerns about Nigeria’s economy and what he described as the prevailing mentality among people.
Rybeena said these factors have made the idea of raising a child in Nigeria particularly troubling for him and his wife.
“Our economy and everything. So us having a child here is messed up for real,” he said.
He added that the mentality children are exposed to also matters greatly when considering where to raise them.
