Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has finally addressed the uproar surrounding his controversial birthday letter to Kate Henshaw.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude, Jim Iyke stated that the message was a real statement of their strong and long-standing friendship of over two decades.

He underlined that the message was not intended to be romantic or sexual, but rather to symbolise their friendship.

He, however, mentioned that he doesn’t like to do things in an unorthodox manner.

In his words:

“Kate Henshaw is one of my longest-standing friends, and the birthday message had to be shocking because I don’t do things ordinarily. It was my way of celebrating who she is.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that the veteran actor generated reactions after naming who he believes is the finest actress in the Nigerian film industry.

In an interview with Pulse Ghana, the charismatic actor was asked to pick between two actresses presented to him to choose who was prettier.

Though initially hesitant, Jim Iyke eventually gave in to the lighthearted game. When asked to choose between Genevieve Nnaji and Rita Dominic, he chose Rita. Between Rita Dominic and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, he still picked Rita.

Rita also topped Ini Edo in the next round. However, when it came down to Rita Dominic and Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Jim Iyke made a switch, naming Dakore as his final pick.
