Meet ValueJet’s Captain Oluranti, Female Pilot Who Prevented K1 De Ultimate From Flying: “No Wonder”

The Nigerian media has been rife with reports and counter-claims about what happened between K1 de Ultimate and the ValueJet crew, which resulted in the singer being denied from boarding an aircraft and nearly being run over.
A press release from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) stated that the Fuji musician had spilled alcohol on a ValueJet staff member.

K1, who has been rumoured to be facing marital issues, attempted to board a flight to Lagos operated by ValueJet Airlines (Flight VK 201).
The musician was reportedly carrying a liquid substance, which he was warned about, as alcohol is prohibited on flights.
According to the press release, he was informed of this but allegedly refused to comply. He was asked to step aside and, in the process, spilled alcohol on the staff.
In a video circulating online, K1 de Ultimate was seen walking close to the plane as it began to take off and appeared to narrowly miss being knocked over.
Reports indicated that two pilots, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and her co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba, who operated the ValueJet flight, were later suspended for their actions.
Meet ValueJet pilot who clashed with K1
Legit.ng has since obtained further information on one of the suspended pilots, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, who happens to be a senator’s daughter.
Captain Oluranti, affectionately referred to as 'Rantilicious' by her friends and colleagues, is a Nigerian aviator creating waves in the sky.
She is said to be the daughter of Senator Felix Kola Ogunwale, who represented Osun Central in the National Assembly between 2003 and 2007.
Oluranti, who has nearly a decade of flying experience, began her career with Arik Air and spent several years refining her skills. She later joined ValueJet and remains one of the airline's best female pilots.

Her promotion to full captain occurred in September 2021, following years of service as a first officer.
The feat was recognised in a ceremonial decoration ceremony organised by Arik Air's then-CEO, Captain Roy Ilegbodu, together with Captain Adetokunbo Adekunbi and Captain Chris Najomo, who is currently the NCAA Director General.
Captain Oluranti is married to fellow pilot Isaac Ogoyi Jr., who also began his career at Arik Air. He later moved on to RwandAir and now flies for Uganda Airlines.

In a chat with media personality Emmanuel Alaba, he cautioned against allowing pride or ego to cloud professional judgment.
"Professionall, the Pilot should know better, but she allowed emotions to get her. The pilot has 95% of the faults because she's the one that receives all the professional trainings to prevent every kind of accidents that may arise during service.
"I give Kwam1 the 5% after he volunteered to be an instrument of destruction for incident that would have been avoided, because of pride and arrogance, he almost killed himself. Thank God he was alive to apologise."
