Dealers Increase Kerosene Prices by 24.09%, Residents of 10 States Pay More

  • New data from the NBS has provided insight into the price movement of kerosene across the country in July 2025
  • The NBS revealed that kerosene prices recorded an increase both month-on-month and year-on-year for the litre and gallon measurements
  • Residents in states such as Delta, Edo, and Rivers paid the highest prices for one litre of kerosene

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed that the average retail price per litre of HHK paid by consumers in July 2025 was N2,196.19, a 0.16% increase compared to N2,192.63 in June 2025.

On a year-on-year basis, the price rose by 24.09% from N1,769.86 in July 2024.

The bureau stated this in its price watch report released for July 2025.

In the report, Delta recorded the highest average price per litre at N2,598.21, followed by Edo (N2,574.57) and Rivers (N2,560.72).

The lowest prices were recorded in Abia (N1,679.31), Oyo (N1,763.40), and Bayelsa (N1,797.46).

By region, the South-South zone recorded the highest average retail price per litre at N2,339.26, followed by the North-West at N2,241.47, while the South-West recorded the lowest at N2,069.59.

Kerosene price per gallon

The average retail price per gallon of HHK in July 2025 was N8,695.90, a 0.14% increase from N8,684.15 in June 2025. Year-on-year, the price rose by 50.92% from N5,762.10 in July 2024.

Edo recorded the highest average price per gallon at N10,285.57, followed by Kebbi (N9,733.55) and Delta (N9,691.96).

The lowest prices were recorded in Abia (N6,746.89), Bayelsa (N7,088.56), and Oyo (N7,135.29).

Regionally, the South-South again topped the list with an average price of N9,067.65, followed by the North-East at N8,917.74, while the South-West recorded the lowest at N8,301.49

Cooking gas prices increase

In a related development, Legit.ng reported that the National Bureau of Statistics, in its July 2025 Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Price Watch Report, revealed a significant rise in cooking gas prices.

The report showed that the average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder increased from N14,261.57 in July 2024 to N20,609.48 in July 2025.
