At Least 15 Killed In Funeral Bomb Attack In Iraq

A bomb attack on a funeral procession has claimed life of at least 15 people and left dozens badly wounded in the central city of Baquba, Iraq on Tuesday.

The bombing targeted the mourners gathered for the funeral of a Sunni university professor

According to anonymous police officials, the attack targeted the mourners gathered for the funeral of a Sunni university professor. Mustafa Abdul-Razzaq was a Sunni teacher in Diyala University, who was murdered by militiamen near his house a day before.

The the June 10 attack killed 15 people and wounded at least 27. The information was confirmed by an unnamed hospital official.

Violence has increased dramatically in Iraq in recent months as militant groups attack cities and routinely stage attacks on events that gather large groups of people, including funerals.

Baquba is located some 50 km to the northeast of Baghdad, on the Diyala River and home both Sunnis and Shiiites.
