How EFCC Operative Escaped Being Killed By A Fleeing Suspect

An operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Jonathan Barde,  narrowly escaped death yesterday in Lagos when a fleeing suspect identified as Tajudeen Oluwanishola knocked him down with a Honda Accord car.

It was learnt that Oluwanishola, in a bid to evade arrest over a case of fraud being investigated by the commission, drove his car dangerously, knocking down anyone that stood in his way.

It was gathered that Barde sustained serious injuries and was hurriedly ferried to the Military Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos for medical attention to save his life.

The development did not only leave Barde injured, but a Toyota Hilux van that took the investigative team to the Gbagada Estate neighbourhood where the suspect resides was also badly damaged.

The suspect was said to have rammed his car into the vehicle while making frantic moves to escape from officials of the commission.

Oluwanishola, who bolted upon sighting the investigative team led by Pius Akoji, was not so lucky in his bid to escape, as a Rapid Response Patrol team chased, apprehended and handed him over to the EFCC operatives.

He is being investigated for an alleged internet banking fraud to the tune of N5.5million.
