Saraki's Visit: What Nigerians Are Saying About Atiku

In a very surprising and controversial manner, Senator Bukola Saraki, emerged the President of the Senate.

Few hours after his victory, he paid a courtesy visit to former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, who shared a photo on Twitter.

This quickly sparked reactions from Nigerians as some are of the opinion that Atiku was responsible for Saraki’s victory. While some lashed at Atiku for plotting a coup, others supported him.

It will be recalled that Atiku and Saraki were the major leaders of the ‘New PDP’, a faction of the People’s Democratic Party that defected to the All Progressives Congress in 2014, following the crisis that rocked the PDP.

Reports have it that Atiku and the five governors, who defected to the APC had a hand in the victory of Saraki and Yakubu Dogara. They were said to have used their influence to make Saraki emerge Senate president, stopping Ahmed Lawan, who is believed to be Tinubu’s candidate.
