N180 ransom: Kidnappers of Greenfield university students become millionaires

Parents of just released Greenfield university students have revealed that they were abandoned by the government who did nothing to help them secure the release of their children.
According to them, they raised N180million which was paid to the kidnappers. Another parent also revealed that the kidnappers were also given motorcycles.

They told of how they sold their property to raise the N180million ransom paid to the gunmen, The Nation reports.
One of the parents said:
“we paid N180 million; that is what they collected from us without the help of any government. We, the parents, paid. The government did not send a single policeman to go after our children’s kidnappers.”
A crying mother said they also gave motorcycles to the bandits as part of the ransom.
Recall that Legit.ng reported that two weeks after the abduction of students from Greenfield University, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has shared an update concerning the release of those still in captivity.
The prominent Islamic cleric said the remaining 16 kidnapped students would be freed soon.
Recall that the bandits who abducted some students from a private university in Kaduna threatened to kill the remaining 17 in their custody if their demands are not met.
The criminals are asking for a ransom of N100 million as well as 10 brand Honda motorcycles.
Also, recall that Legit.ng reported that angry youths protesting the abduction of 15 persons by bandits on Monday, May 24 vandalized and burnt the Gauraka police station in Tafa local government area of Niger state.
15 people were abducted by bandits in the Gauraka community when bandits in their large number stormed the community.
The bandits were said to have moved from house to house to forcefully drag their victims out of their homes, a pregnant woman was said to be among the abductees.
